Helping Students Succeed.
MEET KRISTEN HENDERSON, M.Ed.
Kristen Henderson, the owner of The Savvy Student, LLC, has an exceptional love for learning along with helping students to perform at a higher level academically! From a very young age, Kristen knew she wanted to be a teacher. She graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies (B.S.I.S.) degree. After one short year of teaching, she decided to continue her education and received her Master's Degree from the University of North Texas.
Kristen taught for many years in Plano ISD. During that time, she held several leadership positions including, being an Assistant Team Leader prior to being Team Leader.
Giving back to the community is a priority for Kristen. She is an avid supporter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. CF hits home for Kristen as her late nephew, David Denning, and cousins, Danny and David Brumagin, suffer from this terrible disease. In addition to supporting CF, she is an active community member. Some of Kristen's recent community roles have been:
* Member of Weatherford Chamber of Commerce
* Brock ISD District Improvement Committee Member
* Brock ISD Health Advisory Committee Member
* Brock ISD District Of Innovation Committee Member
* President of Foot Works Performing Arts Center Parent Association
* Aggie Mom's Association
Family time is a must for Kristen. She has 2 children, an Aggie (Whoop!) and a Red Raider (Wreck 'Em). Kristen and her husband of 25 years love to travel, ski, and simply spend time together.
A NOTE FROM KRISTEN:
I remember struggling in 8th grade due to the fact that I had no idea how to study! Every time my teacher would say we were going to have a test, anxiety went through the roof. I started my studying each time by copying every summary at the end of the chapter. BAD PLAN! All I knew was I wanted to make a high A (yes, I like to do my best at all things ); however, I had no idea how to prepare.
Can I just say that no child should feel like that! There are key strategies and skills that can be learned to avoid these awful feelings. It would be my pleasure to equip your child(ren) with these necessary skills!
I would love to hear from you, and I am confident that I can help!
