Summer Book Club
For Teens
Feel that relief! No more wondering if your teen will lose reading skills over the summer! Instead, you will feel relaxed knowing the reading skills are being maintained in an enjoyable atmosphere. Cue the confetti 🎉... this means less summer video games, television, and social media.
Before I tell you all about book club, let's make sure you're a good fit.
Your teen is right for book club if he/she wants to:
- engage in some fun summer reading
- enjoy meeting some new friends
- be inspired by other readers

The way it works...

The Book
This book club is designed to encourage students to read for pleasure while tapping into and maintaining their reading skills in unconventional ways.
Your child may pick any book that is of interest and can be completed in four weeks; please approve it.

Weekly Student & Parent Emails
Each week, I will send an email with information about the upcoming session's discussion points and/or a fun activity to have ready prior to the weekly call. If a student does not do the activity and simply wants to read and chat about it, that's fine too.

Weekly Online Discussion
We will be discussing different areas of the books as the weeks progress. The discussions will include higher level thinking along with some easy topics hinging around the characters, problems and solutions, and the setting.

The Book Club Platform

Options
The Savvy Student, LLC uses the Pencil Spaces platform which has zoom like features plus much more. I will email you and your child a one-time link for your child to join the free, secure platform. After that, your child will just log into Pencil Spaces platform and enter into the book club space.That's it; no links to keep up with.
